Author Study

Roald Dahl was a writer with a wild imagination. He has written a lot of stories and not only children’s books but plays, movies, and adult novels. Roald Dahl was born on the 13 September 1916 in Llandaff, Cardiff, Wales. He died on the 23 November 1990 Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. He was 74 from Pneumonia just weeks after his sister Astri died of Appendicitis. Roald first attended The Cathedral School, Llandaff. He also attended several boarding schools in England, including Saint Peters in Weston-super-Mare after him and 4 of his friends were caned by the head master for dropping a dead rat in a jar of gobstopers at the local sweet shop. In August 1939, as World War II started, plans were made to round up the hundreds of Germans in Dar-es-Salaam. Dahl was made an officer in the King's African Rifles, commanding a platoon of Askaris, indigenous troops serving in the colonial army. In November 1939, Dahl joined the Royal Air Force as an Aircraftman. Roald Dahl has written stories like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Twits, Matilda, Danny the Champion of the World, The Witches, Charlie and the Glass Elevator, The BFG, The Magic Finger, Georges Marvellous Medicine and Going Solo. These are just some of Roald Dahl’s books he wrote. Children all ages love his writing most of his books for kids are really easy to read.

This is my narrative about a team that works together having a really good time to get to the top of a mountain.

As they climbed and climbed they could see the whole world from where they were. They were climbing as a team supporting each other every step of the way. Smiles could be seen all around. As they climbed up the Rockey mountain side they could feel a cool breeze gust past their exhausted hot faces. they look up and see blue sky and brown birds flying by. they look down they see lime green grass. they pass great grey boulders, listening to laughs and the whistling wind gust past you at the speed of light. they are so close to the start they feel charged with energy and adrenalin.

My Updated Goals

My goal for reading is to improve my reading age by two years. I have not yet achieved my goal so will need to read lots at home and at school, work hard during reading sessions and think about the strategies I use when locating information.
To improve my writing I need to write at home, to edit my work as at times I get carried away with the length of my sentences and make sure I have used correct punctuation and grammar.
My goal for mathematics was to score above 80% in basic facts. My last score was 70% so I have improved by 27% and now I need to concentrate on learning facts I do not know and complete my sheets at home so I can reach my goal.
Its Halloween You Fraidy Mouse!
